The fairlead is a metal element with a central longitudinal hole through which the winch cable is passed. The hawse performs a guiding function for the correct winding / unwinding (laying) of the cable on the drum.
Aluminum fairleads have a smooth surface, making it easy for synthetic cables to crawl along it, and the metal is resistant to abrasion. In addition, unlike roller guides, the aluminum hawse looks more aesthetically pleasing and is more convenient for lateral skiing.
Used for automotive and industrial electric winches using synthetic ropes and winch pulls from 8000 to 17000 lbs (3629-7711 kg).
