Applicability
Synthetic winch cables are used with all types of winches up to 15,000 lbs (6,804 tons) of pull.
Description
redBTR offers a line of
Kevlar cables.
The advantages of using synthetic rope:
- weight is much less compared to steel cable with the same diameter, does not sink in water, recommended for use in competitions;
- does not break or twist;
- synthetic rope is able to withstand at least the same load as steel ropes of the same diameter;
- low risk of injury if the cable breaks, as it does not store energy and falls to the ground when it breaks;
- does not require the use of a cable dampener;
- safe for hands and can be handled without gloves, has no burrs like on a steel cable;
- not subject to corrosion.
Disadvantages of using synthetic cables:
- UV sensitive, so long-term storage in sunlight is not recommended;
- after getting wet and getting dirt, a mandatory wash is required, since dirt has a detrimental effect on the material of the cable;
- wet winding is not recommended;
- winding must be done under load.
